Thống Nhất Stadium

Thống Nhất Stadium, located at 138 Dao Duy Tu, District 10, Ho Chi Minh City, is a historic multi-purpose venue with a capacity of 16,000 seats. The stadium was inaugurated in 1931 as Renault Stadium, named in honor of Philippe Oreste Renault. Undergoing renovations in 1959 and 1967, the stadium's capacity increased to 16,000, and it was subsequently renamed Cộng Hòa Stadium.

Over the years, the stadium played a crucial role in hosting numerous international games for both men's and women's teams, showcasing Vietnam's prowess in the world of sports. In 1975, the stadium underwent an official renaming ceremony, becoming Thống Nhất Stadium, commemorating the Reunification Day on April 30th, 1975.

Before 2003, Thống Nhất Stadium held the distinction of being the largest national stadium in Vietnam. However, it relinquished this title with the construction of Mỹ Đình Stadium in Hà Nội, boasting a capacity of 40,000 seats. A subsequent renovation in 2005 saw Thống Nhất Stadium's capacity increase to 18,000 seats, enhancing its facilities and modernizing the venue.

Throughout its history, Thống Nhất Stadium has served as the home ground for various football clubs, including Saigon Port, Ho Chi Minh Police, Navibank Saigon, Saigon Xuân Thành, and Sài Gòn FC. In 2016, it was used as the home stadium for Saigon FC in the V-League. A notable renovation in 2017, with an investment of 2 million USD, took place when HCMC FC earned promotion to the top-tier, further elevating the stadium's standards and ensuring its continued significance in Vietnamese football.
